Nearest Green Distillery in Shelbyville, TN, is the world’s first distillery dedicated to honoring Nathan “Nearest” Green, the godfather of Tennessee Whiskey. Nicknamed “Malt Disney World” and named a “true whiskey destination” by Travel + Leisure, this 323-acre property offers an immersive experience for whiskey enthusiasts, history lovers, and families alike. The distillery celebrates the heritage of Tennessee through its tribute to three state icons—Tennessee Whiskey, Tennessee walking horses, and Tennessee music. I've been to quite a few distilleries and this one is my favorite. The layout is very well laid out. They have a merch shop which I highly recommend grabbing some items. They have all kinds of stuff. They have a full restaurant with the "longest bar in the world" which also has a main stage. There is also a BBQ joint with a bread pudding that is to die for. The tasting experience is exceptional. I highly recommend the Uber out from Nashville! It's definitely worth an all day trip!

The barrel thieving tour with our guide Tyler was a highlight – he was knowledgeable, engaging, and brought Uncle Nearest's remarkable legacy to life. We learned so much about the rich history of the brand, and Tyler made the experience both educational and entertaining. We enjoyed lunch at Chuck's Barrel House BBQ II, which was delicious and the perfect complement to our distillery visit. The food was so good that we came back the next day for Sunday brunch at Humble Baron, which did not disappoint. This is the perfect destination for a weekend getaway with friends. The combination of fascinating history, excellent spirits, and great food made for a memorable experience.
