Nearest Green Distillery in Shelbyville, TN, is the world’s first distillery dedicated to honoring Nathan “Nearest” Green, the godfather of Tennessee Whiskey. The barrel thieving tour with our guide Tyler was a highlight – he was knowledgeable, engaging, and brought Uncle Nearest's remarkable legacy to life. We learned so much about the rich history of the brand, and Tyler made the experience both educational and entertaining. We enjoyed lunch at Chuck's Barrel House BBQ II, which was delicious and the perfect complement to our distillery visit. The food was so good that we came back the next day for Sunday brunch at Humble Baron, which did not disappoint. This is the perfect destination for a weekend getaway with friends. The combination of fascinating history, excellent spirits, and great food made for a memorable experience. We visited Uncle Nearest Distillery in Shelbyville, Tennessee and had an amazing experience. The property is beautiful, welcoming, and full of history -- it's a must-visit if you're in Tennessee. Our tour guide Zavier was outstanding. He provided an excellent tour and was extremely knowledgeable and thorough, while keeping everything fun and engaging. His personality really made the tour even better -- professional, friendly, and genuinely passionate about what he does. If you're thinking about doing the tour, I highly recommend it, especially if Zavier is your guide. We left with a deeper appreciation for the history and the craftsmanship behind Uncle Nearest.
